Custom Post Types

Posted in psephos
Plain text works for many topics, but others benefits from more structured presentation. We've introduced a couple of custom post types, that can be activated per-board in the settings : recipes, guitar tabs and doodles. We started with these because we love cooking and the admin tries to learn guitar, but the idea could be generalized to other types of content, although we'd like to keep some coherence in the design and not become a random assortment of half-baked tools. ## Recipe For cooking and food boards. Instead of pasting an unstructured wall of text, authors fill in a proper recipe: a list of ingredients (with autocomplete on common items) and ordered steps. It renders as a clean, scannable card with ingredients up top, method below. There's also timers, units & serving conversion.

The recipe display.

## Guitar Tab For music boards. Authors can write and share guitar tablature directly in a post. There's an interactive fretboard, scale selection, chord progression and strumming pattern that can be played back. Lyrics can be rendered in a monospaced font, properly aligned layout so the chord changes and lyrics align properly.

Guitar tab display.

## Doodle (minor) A lightweight canvas drawing tool for quick sketches. Brush, eraser, text, colors, and undo. enough to scribble an idea, annotate something, or post a quick doodle without leaving the page. It can be activated for posts (it shows up in the image section) or in the comments (for some homemade replies). It's activate on the [imadethis](https://psephos.cc/posts/74/) board.
