Legal & Privacy
Last updated: May 2026. Please read these terms carefully before using Psephos.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Psephos ("the platform", "the site"), you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. We may update these terms at any time; continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. User Content
You are solely responsible for any content you post, including text, images, links, and comments. By posting, you represent that you have the right to share that content and that it does not violate applicable laws or the rights of any third party.
You grant Psephos a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display your content for the purpose of operating the platform. You retain ownership of what you post.
We do not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for user-generated content. Content that violates our community rules may be removed through our peer moderation system.
3. Prohibited Content
You may not post content that is illegal under applicable law, includes personal data of others without consent (doxxing), constitutes targeted harassment or threats, infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights, or is intended to deceive or defraud other users.
4. Data We Collect
When you create an account we collect your username, email address, and hashed password. We do not collect payment information.
We store content you post (posts, comments, votes) and basic activity metadata (timestamps, IP address at registration for abuse prevention). We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). Google may log font requests per their own privacy policy.
5. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to operate the platform: authenticating your account, displaying your posts and profile, running the community moderation system, and sending you notifications you have opted into.
We may use your email to send account-related messages (email verification, password reset). We will not send marketing emails.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us. Note that posts and comments you have made may remain visible in anonymised or deleted form to preserve discussion context, unless you explicitly request their removal.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing, under the GDPR.
7. Community Moderation
Psephos uses a peer-driven moderation system in which randomly selected users may be asked to vote on whether reported content violates the community rules. We do not guarantee the accuracy or fairness of moderation outcomes. Moderation decisions may be appealed within the platform as described on the Rules page.
We reserve the right to intervene directly and remove content or suspend accounts that cause serious harm to the platform or its users, without going through the peer moderation process.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Psephos is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. You use the platform at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Psephos and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the platform, including any reliance on user-generated content.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
